Xbox Kinect Review :
What to look for:
Everything right now is manipulated with the use
of touch—we have touch screen phones everywhere,
tablet PCs like the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab and
similar products, even the television industry
has already set foot in the touch screen market
by the creation of touch screen television sets.
But would you believe that in terms of game
gadgets and consoles, touch technology isn’t the
standard anymore? How about pure motion sensor
technology—something which might bring back
memories of watching Tom Cruise during the flick
Minority Report? Xbox Kinect review
continued below.
A motion sensitive game console is definitely a
big deal and if you can still remember, Nintendo
Wii was one of the earliest motion-sensor game
console released in the market last 2006. In the
advent of these game console’s popularity, we
cannot also disregard the competition given by
Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, as well as
Microsoft’s Xbox 360. But speaking of the latter
console, by the name of Xbox, gaming has reached
a dimension where nothing is really needed in
order to be entertained and thrilled, except for
the console and the player, including his voice
and his actions. Period.
The Kinect Exterior
From the outside, the Xbox Kinect is unarguably
very smooth and sleek. It also comes with a
stand which is sturdy enough to hold the entire
sensor. Three sets of cameras can be found in
the front face of the device. The middle camera
is an RGB camera, as Microsoft prefers to call
it and the other two cameras on the side are
depth sensors which contain infrared projectors
to allow the device to sense the depth of the
area in different lighting conditions. I felt
this aspect vital to my Xbox Kinect review
Efficiency of the Motion Sensor Device - our
Xbox Kinect review takes a look at the motion
sensor
As will be repeatedly noted, the person is
recommended to be about six to eight feet away
from the sensor. The said requirement is
definitely the most efficient space by which
Xbox will work and it has been tested with
various distances, and it seemed that the said
requirement is really the optimum set up. While
this is not a problem in huge homes with
spacious entertainment or living rooms, this may
be a bit of a problem for those living in
limited spaces like apartment units, etc.
No Xbox Kinect Review Would Be Complete
Without - Motion and Voice Control
This is the heart of the Xbox Kinect—allowing
users to manipulate the device by way of their
motion or voice. However, there may be an
expected delay of about one to two seconds due
to the limitation of the machine. But generally,
using the voice feature of the machine is a
great deal of fun and excitement. Just make use
of the magic word “Xbox” and add another special
commands which you can shout commanding your
Xbox to play movies, stop, pause, choose another
movie and the like.
The Xbox Kinect is currently Microsoft’s
response to the ever growing trend of game
consoles and this has been released last
November 2010. By March 2011, sales of the Xbox
Kinect has reached a staggering 10 million
units. In its first sixty days of sale in the
market, it has recorded about 8 million units
sold, making Xbox hold the record for the
“fastest selling consumer electronic device.”
I hope my Xbox Kinect review was adequate and
wish you happy shopping!
